Favourite Thing: My favourite thing to do in science is to learn and help others learn. Science is continuously developing with new advances every day. A scientist should not hide away in a laboratory doing the same thing every day, get out there, get involved, read, learn, talk, discuss, debate but most of all have fun!
What I do: I am a research scientist working mainly in the field analytical chemistry but I also have an interest in forensic science.

Favourite Thing: Starting with a complicated system and working out a computer model of it is very satisfying. If it’s something really tricky, like a ship at sea or an underwater oil well, it takes a long time to get right. The moment you do and can start using it to tell you how the real world behaves is very exciting.
What I do: Was a research physicist and engineer in industry; now a writer and journalist with a keen interest in getting real science out to real people.
