there are animals which mate for life, but I don’t know if it would count as falling in love in the same way as people.

Many animals pair for life, whether they are ‘in love’ though is probably difficult to tell. Although anyone who has seen an animal pine for a lost mate would think they do.

Depends how you define love. Certainly there are animals that form life long bonds with one specific partner and show signs of mourning if they lose that partner.

Most animals have a different partner every mating season. But a few stay with,or come back to, the same partner all their lives.

So although humans can’t really know what a turtle dove is feeling, it’s maybe not wrong to say they fall in love.

Other animals that mate for life include swans, wolves and gibbons.
