Air flowing over the wings creates an upward force – called the lift force – that balances the plane’s weight.

The lift force comes from the wings being at a slight upward angle. To move higher you need more lift, so you slant the wings at a bigger angle. To go lower, you slant them lower.

Now ask me about helicopters 🙂

THe wings are slanted slightly so that with increasing speed the air is pushed underneath. This causes an upward force that lifts the plane into the air.
