      Sodium is really reactive (but not as much as potassium). Have a look at the periodic table and you’ll see the order of reactivity. YOu can just drop it in water and it will explode. THe reactivity is related to the ease with which it can share electrons witb other elements. When in a compound though, it is less reactive – like in salt on your chips, for example.
