• Question: plz help me with my science question asked by a teacher: underline the three enegry resources which do not rely on the sun. coal nuclear hydroelectric tidal biomass oil geothermal i think hydro nucler coal and oil but thats four so !?!?!?!!? but it not tidal becuase it uses the sun and moons gravitational pull to make the waves so what are the three energy resoures that don't rely on the sun!!!!

      You’re spot on about tidal. And you’re right about nuclear too.

      I’d say coal and oil did rely on the sun, because the energy in them is sunlight locked up in long-dead plants.

      But they don’t need the sun now, so I agree with you that your teacher is looking for those two as well.

      What about hydroelectric? Well it doesn’t seem to rely on the sun until you think about it a bit more.

      How does the rain that falls in rivers to form the dams get into the sky in the first place? That’s right – evaporation. And it’s the sun that causes that.

      So we lose hydro from your list of four and it’s nuclear, coal and oil.
