      THe wind turns the sails which in turn turns a turbine. THe movement energy being transferred to electricity. Nothing (apart from the landscape) is wasted.

      If you try a web search on “what I need to know about wind turbines” you don’t get what you want.

      What you get is a lot of companies trying to sell you wind turbines.

      Quite a good site for the basics on wind and wind turbines is this one http://www.eia.doe.gov/kids/energy.cfm?page=wind_home-basics

      It’s pretty good on all the other energy sources – renewable and non-renewable – as well.
