      Because you have genes from your parents that make your eyes brown – same with eye colour, foot size – everything!

      It’s your genes. Scientists used to think there was only one gene involved in eye colour but they now know there are many.

      One of the big disappointments about the human genome project is that this is also true of most inherited diseases – they’re caused by many genes and not just one, as they were hoping to find. This makes it much harder to find a simple gene therapy that would cure them.
