• Question: how does the sea stay in place?

      Gravity and it floats on the earths’ crust.

      The pull of gravity holds the sea on the surface and stops it flying off into space. It does the same with you. And me. And Tom, Matt, Hugh and Antonia.

      If gravity was suddenly turned off, we’d fly up into space and so would all the seas.

      Because it has no where else to go. With the exception of low lying places like Holland most land is above sea level (so higher then the sea).

      I’m not sure what you mean? The sea is lower than the coast so it stays off the land. Just like a pond or a fountain stays within its walls. It is able to stay on the Earth because of gravity!
