First of all I’m a paediatrician (children’s doctor) in the hospital. However I’m doing less of that at the moment to spend more time doing research lookinginto how we can stop bacteria causing infections. Over recent years bacteria have resistant to many of the antibiotics we have – so we need to find new ones!

I’m a lecturer in Psychology. So I spend half my time teaching undergraduates about psychology and half my time doing scientific research.

I’m a research fellow, I work in a lab at a university on a project that is using genetic modification to create plantain (a type of banana) plants that are resistant to attack by little worms called nematodes. The project involves working with other scientists in Uganda so I get to travel out to Uganda to do lab and field work as well.
